Frequently Asked Questions

Individual category finalists and winners will be announced in July 2016, at which time each category finalist will have a chance to win the overall Project of the Year. Additionally, each entrant also had the ability to nominate their agency for Agency of the Year.

The Project, Agency, and Content Marketer of the Year will all be announced at a live awards ceremony at Content Marketing World in Cleveland on September 8, 2016. Join us!

 

Q: IS THE AWARDS COMPETITION OPEN TO COMPANIES OUTSIDE THE U.S.?

A: Content Marketing Awards competition is open to companies worldwide.

Q: DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF PREVIOUS WINNERS?

A: Yes, you can view the 2015 Content Marketing Awards Winners List here.

Q: CAN I SUBMIT MY ENTRIES ELECTRONICALLY?

A: Yes! All entries must be submitted online. For Print categories and some digital categories you will still need to mail in 3 samples of work per entry with a copy of your email confirmation attached.

Q: CAN I ATTACH SUPPORTING FILES WITH MY ENTRY?

A: Yes. Please include all necessary files with your entry.

Q: WHAT FORMAT CAN THE ATTACHED FILES BE IN?

A: All file formats are accepted. *for design categories, high resolution JPG or PDFs are preferred.

Q: CAN I SUBMIT A URL LINK TO MY FILE OR VIDEO?

A: Yes. Please include all necessary url links with your entry. *if the url link is password protected, you must include the password on the entry form.

Q: WHEN YOU ASK FOR 3 COPIES OF THE ENTRY, DO YOU MEAN 3 COPIES FROM THE SAME ISSUE OR A SAMPLE OF 3 DIFFERENT EDITIONS?

A: We need 3 identical copies per entry. The reason is that 3 separate judges will evaluate each entry.

Q: CAN I SEND A FLASH DRIVE INSTEAD OF ATTACHING FILES TO THE ONLINE ENTRY FORM?

A: All files must be submitted online with your entry.

Q: CAN I ENTER A PUBLICATION THAT WAS PRODUCED IN 2015 BUT DISTRIBUTED IN 2016?

A: Yes, as long as the publication was produced in 2015, it is eligible.

Q: HOW DO I NOMINATE MY AGENCY FOR THE AGENCY OF THE YEAR AWARD?

A: You must submit at least one project submission and complete the agency information on the Entry Form.

Q: IS THERE A FEE TO NOMINATE MY AGENCY FOR THE AGENCY OF THE YEAR AWARD?

A: Yes, there is a $250 entry fee for Agency of the Year.

Q: HOW DO I SUBMIT AN ENTRY?

A: Use the information below to prepare your entries so that each judge has all the necessary items.
For DIGITAL Categories:

  • Complete the online entry form.
  • Provide all URLs and files necessary to complete your entry.
    Submit a summary of no more than 500 words that explains why the entry qualifies for an award in the designated category.
  • Your entry is complete, unless you have items that need to be mailed in. If mailing items to complete your entry, mail three (3) identical item samples for each category the project is submitted into.
  • You will receive a confirmation email for your entry. You must print the confirmation email and attach a copy of the confirmation to the back of each sample.
  • Entires are considered PENDING until all samples are received.

For PRINT Categories:

  • Complete the online entry form.
  • Provide all URLs and files necessary to complete your entry.

Q: WHAT IF THE CATEGORY DOESN’T INDICATE PRINT OR DIGITAL ONLY?

A: If a category name Does Not indicate PRINT or DIGITAL, both Entry Formats are Acceptable

Q: HOW ARE THE ENTRIES JUDGED?

A: The categories are judged by such considerations as:

  • Information and/or entertainment value
  • Relevance
  • Quality of copywriting (tone, voice, length, interest)
  • Appropriateness for the audience
  • Effectiveness in achieving goals
  • Hard numbers (statistics) measuring performance against goals
  • Quality of display copy
  • Ability to support the sponsor’s brand/image
  • Ease of navigation (Digital)
  • Pass-along potential (Print)
  • Impact of landing page links/coverlines (Digital)
  • Impact of coverlines (Print)
  • Visual appeal, effectiveness of imagery
  • Typography
  • Integration of visual and textual elements
  • Balance of visual and textual elements

Q: WILL MY MATERIALS BE RETURNED AFTER THE AWARDS PROGRAM CONCLUDES?

A: All entries submitted to the awards program become the property of the Content Marketing Awards and may be used for promotional purposes. Entries will not be returned. Do not send original artwork.

Q: ARE MATERIALS SUBMITTED TO THE CONTENT MARKETING AWARDS PUBLIC?

A: All entries submitted to the awards program become the property of the Content Marketing Awards and may be used for promotional purposes.

Q: WHAT IF THERE IS A PART OF MY SUBMISSION THAT MYSELF, OR MY CLIENT, DOES NOT WANT DISCLOSED TO THE PUBLIC?

A: Please indicate this on the entry form. If you are mailing print materials to complete your entry, be sure to mark any part of those materials, that you do not want shared publicly, as CONFIDENTIAL – DO NOT SHARE, along with indicating this on the entry form. CMI and the Awards judges will honor that confidentiality.
